Port Life in Baltimore
Baltimore harbour is busy all year round, with the arrival
and departure of fishing boats, and ferry traffic to and from
the islands. Activity increases in the summer as visiting
yachts arrive and the sailing schools get busy. Diving, angling
and kayaking are also popular activities here.
Baltimore, Ireland has strong associations with the sea and boatbuilding
was once an important industry here. This is also a lifeboat
community, with many of the local people giving freely of
their time and energy to help the Baltimore Lifeboat make our coastal waters safer
for all mariners.
