There are so many lovely walks around our home that we feel it's hardly necessary to tell you where to go. We're sure you'll enjoy it whichever way you head off!
However, just to give you a few ideas, up the hill behind the village are heather-covered slopes with dry stone walls enclosing small fields. From there you get a superb view of Baltimore and the islands. It's an easy walk, not too
steep and only ten minutes out of the village centre. Continue on in that direction, and you'll also see the Baltimore Beacon (also known as Lot's wife) out in front of you. Although a slightly longer walk, this also provides a good vantage point.
Those wanting an eight mile walk should get an Ordnance Survey map and head for Ballylynch and Spain Tower, returning through Ballymacrown and a deserted cliff-top village.
If you fancy a twelve mile hike, walk through small sheltered lanes to Lough lne, which is almost always peaceful and uncrowded. You could return through Barloge, which gives spectacular views of the coast.
If you like superb views and don't mind a very steep climb, drive to "Lough lne" and climb the hill behind it. Make sure it's a clear day and you won't be disappointed.
Remember, however, that this is not only a superbly unspoilt environment, it is also farming country. Please take all your litter home with you, leave gates as you find them and keep dogs on leads when near cattle, sheep and horses.
